Who Needs Payday Loans?

  • Posted on August 7, 2008 at 12:00 pm

I suppose everybody knows what payday loans are: money you get to use for whatever you want and to pay back after you get your next paycheck. This kind of loan is very popular amongst working people, because there are so many times when money is just not enough from one payday to another, especially if you need to buy something more expensive, like a new fridge, or a new TV set, or even a vacation.

Payday loans are so popular because they are very easy to get: there’s no need for credit history checks, no faxing is required, nor a good credit score. It’s just that simple to fill in an online form and get approved for a payday loan almost instantly.

The best part is that there are companies which don’t charge any interest if the borrower pays the loan by the end of the month.

How To Protect Your Guestbook

Recently, I’ve had a very big problem with the guestbook I have on my personal website: it was flooded with spam. I think I was deleting several hundreds messages each day, and they kept on appearing.

I was desperate, I was even thinking of deleting my guestbook. Although it had a captcha in place, it seemed not to be stopping those messages at all. Probably there are programs which can read those captchas, so they are semi-useless.

Before deleting the guestbook, however, I looked through the files on my server and I noticed one that was not mine. It was called postinfo.html and it seemed to be something that granted access to external users to post content on my site’s pages. I deleted it, and the messages seemed to slow down a bit. Then I changed the permalink to my guestbook and I added an instruction on robots.txt to disallow all bots from crawling that page.

It worked. I don’t know for how long, but I’ll keep you posted.

Learn About Sudden Cardiac Arrest

If you never heard of a Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator, be happy that you don’t need it. This is a device which helps people who suffered from a sudden cardiac arrest survive, through the prevention of further SCAs. The Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a deadly condition which attacks without prior warnings and which kills about 325,000 people every year. If you want to know if you are at risk of suffering from such serious illness, you can visit the website of St. Jude Medical, where you can read more about the risk factors and you can get other useful information on the treatment methods. Unlike many medical websites, this one has a user friendly language, so it is easy to understand by regular people, not only by doctors.

Get yourself educated, so you can know what you can do if it happens to you.

Sick Again

You probably remember my articles about back pain and its implications on living a normal life.

Well, at least I thought that. Yesterday I’ve experienced the worst of all back pains in the world. Let me tell you how it started: I was doing some jobs in the garden, taking care for some vegetables I’ve seeded this spring. At a point, I bended over to take something from the ground and I had a big surprise, as I wasn’t able to get back at the vertical position. So there I was, in the middle of nowhere (my garden and my indoor greenhouse are far away from houses), not being able to stand anymore. Walking was also out of question. I had no mobile phone with me, so I had to figure out a solution to get back inside my house.

While I was thinking, a neighbor just passed by. I called him, and luckily he heard my voice and came to see what happened. After exchanging a few words, my neighbor ended up by taking me over his shoulder and carried me like then the whole way through the mud of the garden, into the house.

Getting inside the house, I called an ambulance and when they arrived I realized that I had tons of dirt under my fingernails.

Do you want to know why? Because my neighbor is a 9 years old boy, and he’s not so tall, so my hands were on the ground while he was carrying me. Funny, huh?
